The Board of Directors of the Canadian Research Insights Council (CRIC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Gary Bennewies, President and CEO of Ipsos Canada, as its new Chair. Gary was one of CRIC’s founders and has been a member of the CRIC board and Treasurer since its incorporation in 2018. His appointment comes at a critical time as companies across Canada are relying heavily on insights to adapt their offers to the new normal.
“I look forward to working with the CRIC board to ensure our industry continues to deliver the insights governments, businesses and non-profit organizations need to navigate through today’s dynamic environment,” stated Bennewies.
In addition, the board appointed Nik Nanos, Chief Data Scientist and Founder, Nanos Research as its Vice-Chair and Jason Zweig, Vice President, Canadian Viewpoint as its Treasurer for 2020-2021. Nik was also a founder of CRIC and a member of the CRIC board since its incorporation. He also serves as the chair of CRIC’s Standards Committee. Jason was elected to the CRIC Board in June 2020 and was actively involved in the founding of CRIC, supporting numerous initiatives including the development of CRIC’s Research Verification Service.
The CRIC Board extends its gratitude to Barry Watson, President and CEO of Environics Research, who has served as Chair since CRIC’s incorporation in December 2018. Under Barry’s leadership, CRIC has quickly established itself as the voice of the research, analytics and insights industry in Canada and globally through initiatives that included a strategic partnership with ESOMAR, the Research Verification Service and the CRIC Public Opinion Research Standards and Disclosure Requirements. Barry will continue to contribute as a member of CRIC’s Board.
The CRIC Board also wishes to thank retiring board members Don Mills (Former Chairman, Narrative Research), Carol Udell (President, Canadian Viewpoint) and Chuck Chakrapani (President, Leger Analytics) who have brought their leadership to CRIC since its inception.
